I want to be part of the nail industry as a "quality nail tech"
not just "another one" amoung the many!!!

Hello! and welcome. Ok, I want to start off first by saying that I am by no means a professional, I am a novice and do not claim to know a lot about this industry. I am, however, a seriously eager student who is learning all that she can.
The reason for this site is to show the services that I provide as well as provide the information to you about the product that is being put on your natural nail to many other things you may want to know. Before I started to become an aspiring nail tech, I used to be a customer. I have experienced many pleasant and unpleasent experiences.
Many times I have had to be the one to figure out how I could correct issues with my nails, and have spent many hours on the internet and in books. I have to say there is a lot more out there that you should know that I feel some nail techs just are not providing. Now that I have decided to attend college to become a licensed nail tech I do realize that I want to share my experiences with you all and also let you know about your options and what you can do, especially with difficult cases, which would include me.

My name is Cheyenne Marie and I own Cheyennes Creations. I am an aspiring nail technition, where I practice my services only on my friends, family and on myself. I do not have a nail technition license and cannot legally perform services on clients in a salon or other beauty establishment. However, I am making arrangements to enroll in the Northwest college of cosmetology in Clackamas, Oregon in 2008.
I currently use salon grade products, which include both IBD and CND.
My goals are to specialize in the sculpted nail and nail art, which will include: Airbrushing, a wide variety of french designs, crushed shell, dried flowers, glitter art, toenail art, wedding nails, color blends and more as time moves forward.
The satisfaction I get out of doing nails is just the fact that I can make someone feel good. Hopefully bring a smile to their face and a lighter step in their walk. One thing I noticed about myself, is the fact that I feel more feminine with nails, if I have a bad day or feel down, getting my nails done or getting some nail art perks me up and I feel so much better. I just want to bring this to other ladies as well, we have such hectic lives and its really good to take some time out for yourself and get pampered.
It takes an amazing amount of dedication, passion and extreme love for what you do to become a great nail tech. Attention to detail, patience, the ability to listen well, to think outside the box, have a creative side, and to possess a high regard for professionalism. These are all traits that I proudly claim that make up a large part of who I am.

"The About Me History"

I have always loved art. With having an artistic background it has allowed me to expand my creative side from sketching and painting to digital art. Being a skilled artist in various forms all my life has allowed me to branch out into the creative world of nails. As a young adult I discovered how artistic you could be with makeup and nails. Most of my energy went into makeup and learning how to apply it, the right shades, products, tools and so much more.
I would buy all the drug store brand nail tips, and nail art and experiment. I did a good job for using such "CRAP" and I'll call that stuff bought at the store "crap". After a while it began to ruin my nails and the adhesive would literally eat through and make huge holes in my nail plate. I begin to get professional nail enhancements in 2003.
My first nail enhancements were Liquid & Powder l&p (acrylics), I jumped around trying to locate a nail tech who could accomodate my picky needs as well as my challenging nails. (I have flat, very very thin nails and a wide nail plate. My real nails never grow past the tip of my finger, because they are so thin they just bend or peel off. They resemble a mild nail biter, although I do not bite my nails. You can just IMAGINE how hard it is to build myself an Apex(stress area - LAUGH) I discovered after a few years of having liquid & powder l&p (acrylics) that they were just not working for me. I would get a lot of lifting and chipping as soon as two days after my rebalance. I went through four nail techs in my small town. I also did not like the yellowing effect that would come after about a month or so. I would actually take them off to just get new crisp clear acrylic. After a couple years my nails were so badly damaged that the nail tech suggested that I keep them off for a while to rest them. But I have thin short stubby nails and they look horrid without enhancements. So I decided to do a search on the internet wondering if there was another form of enhancements available for my weak nails. I discovered "UV Gels" and decided to read up on them. I found a nail tech that did "UV Gels" exclusively and I have been in love with "UV Gels" ever since. I feel they just accomodated my nail type better than the l&p, as well as I like the look of "UV Gels" over l&p.
I have been wearing them for about two years now. As described on the main page of my site they are wonderful enhancements and work very well for my type of nail and the problems that I have. I do think l&p nails are amazing as well, if done right. L&p work for some people and for some do not work at all. I fell in love with UV Gels as well as the technique used and there incredible flexibility and beauty. I decided that was it, I was going to learn how to do them myself. I have been doing them on myself for about a year now, and doing nail art for about 7 months. My former UV Gel technition was an inspiration to me, she in fact encouraged me and has actually helped me realize a dream. I owe so much to her. She told me, as talented as I am that I could learn to do them and pull it off really well. She helped me get the products I needed as well as gave me instructions and lessons. I also have spent hours at a time over months on end reading on the internet, visiting forums and subscribing to "Nails Magazine" and even ordered books and DVD's about UV Gels, applications, products, nail art, tips, problems, sanitation, bacteria, funguses, and more.
I am 32 years old and have come to the realization that I need a career change and that life is too short to let your dreams pass you by. I did attend college at age 20 for about 6 months to get a degree in graphic arts, but found married life at that age to be stifling and I ended up in a situation where I couldn't take myself where I wanted to be. So, in the year 2001 I filed for a divorce and began a trip down the road on the discovery to find "me". It has been a long road, but a well earned road. I have learned so much in the last few years it has been amazing, and I love where I am at now and who I have become and I would never go back. I did attend college again in 2006 for an "Office Specialist Certificate", however finding again that sitting behind a desk answering phones all day just isn't what I really wanted to do. I need a job where I will be happy and love waking up in the morning with the attitude of "I can't wait to get to my job". So I have decided to enroll in a cosmetology school in 2008. Dreams can come true, but they are not handed to us on a silver platter, we need the drive and the passion to go after them, to face rejection, depression and the ups and downs. The rewards are when we achieve something that makes us feel light-hearted and makes you smile so big your face hurts!! *Grin*

Thank you for coming to read about me. I am really honored that you would get this far. *smiles* I have enjoyed sharing a little about me and hope you have found it interesting.
Take care - Cheyenne
